Penelope Cruz is using her influence to encourage fans not to purchase clothing and accessories made of real animal fur this holiday season and beyond.

The Vanilla Sky star posed with a cat for a PETA ad that says, “Make Us Purr. Don’t Wear Fur.”

“Finally, so many designers are going fur-free, and I’m looking forward to the day when no animal is caged or trapped and killed for fur,” Cruz said in a statement released by the animal organization on Tuesday.

Designers that have recently pledged not to use animal fur include Gucci, Michael Kors, Versace, Burberry, Diane Von Furstenberg, Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and of course, Stella McCartney.

This is the second time Cruz poses for PETA, the first time was in 2012 where she first supported the anti-fur movement.

Cruz and her husband Javier Bardem share their home with rescued dogs and cats, prompting her mother to call their abode an animal shelter. She has gone as far as to take homeless animals to her family home in Madrid when she's in town visiting.

There's a wide variety of brands currently making fabulous faux fur options, so there's really no need to continue harming animals for the sake of fashion.

Will you join Penelope in saying no to fur for good?
